Colorado Fire

Production Designer Michael Cataldo always has a camera. Not just the iPhone variety, as nifty and amazing as it may be, but a real camera with lenses made of glass. He’s done a lot of work with the National Fire Prevention Association, which means he gets to blow things up or light them on fire – always under the watchful eye of experienced first responders of course. This frame was taken during an exercise in Colorado, the telephoto lens compressing the action to the point where the fire fighters appear to be engulfed in flames and the heat providing an impressionistic effect on the image.
